13th November 2008 Electronica

All the major technologies are represented here in hall B1, from heavy copper to MCM module technology, and every concoction of microvia’s imaginable on display. The exhibitors appear to be wearing on their respective sleeves, their core competencies with little or no fluff confusing what they want to sell. Halogen free is there on the cusp but appears to be subject to too few offerings within the material ranges, so not even a real hint if this tech with were required or that it will be the de-facto trend in the future. Returning to the theme of the PCB exhibitors actually showing what they want “or need “ to sell, this is a refreshing direction as the customer base has really been looking for this. For too long the “me too” and the “ I can do that gisajob” mentality has previously prevailed with PCB suppliers wanting to be all things to all people. So no real trend in technology, but a positive change in the way the PCB industry presents what is sells and thereby how it presents itself.
